We offer a range of sedation levels tailored to your specific needs, medical history, and the complexity of your treatment.
Nitrous Oxide
Commonly known as "laughing gas," this is a safe and effective sedative agent that is mixed with oxygen and inhaled through a small mask over your nose.
- Begins working almost immediately to help you relax.
- The effects wear off quickly once the mask is removed.
- Allows you to drive yourself home safely after the appointment.
Oral Sedation
For patients with moderate anxiety, oral sedation involves taking a prescribed medication shortly before their procedure begins to induce a deeper state of calm.
- Provides a higher level of relaxation than nitrous oxide.
- You remain conscious and able to respond to our team.
- Many patients have little to no memory of the procedure afterward.
I.V. Sedation
Intravenous sedation provides a deep level of relaxation administered directly into the bloodstream for an immediate and profound effect.
- Ideal for patients with severe dental phobias or long procedures.
- Levels of sedation are monitored and adjusted in real-time by our doctors.
- You will feel as though you are in a peaceful, “dream-like” state.

EXCELLENT Based on 493 reviews Posted on Maria RiveraTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Shah and his team is always so professional and courteous. Dr. Shah has such a wonderful light hand that I don’t feel any discomfort even though I had some tough work done. Very honest and helpful as well.Posted on Andrew ShortTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great experience! Made me feel very comfortable!Posted on Candice GarciaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I love this place! My kids and I were both disappointed when our insurance changed and we we had to switch dentists. We recently changed plans again, and the first thing I did was call to see if we were able to switch back. My kids love Doctor Shah, this place is the only office that actually CLEANS my teeth when I come, as opposed to just rubbing the paste on them. And they never try to sell me unwanted/needed services!
Is sedation dentistry safe?
Yes. At Karing Dental, your safety is our top priority. We review your medical history thoroughly and monitor your vital signs throughout the entire procedure.
Will I be asleep during the procedure?
Most dental sedation is designed to keep you in a state of “conscious sedation.” You will be deeply relaxed and perhaps drowsy, but you will still be able to breathe on your own and respond to questions.
Can I drive home after my appointment?
If you receive nitrous oxide, you can typically drive yourself home. However, for oral or IV sedation, you will need a trusted friend or family member to drive you to and from our office.
Who is a suitable candidate for sedation dentistry?
Beyond helping those with dental anxiety, sedation is an excellent option for patients with a sensitive gag reflex, a low pain threshold, or those who find it difficult to sit still for long periods. It is also highly recommended if you need to undergo several procedures in a single appointment, as it allows us to work more efficiently while you remain perfectly comfortable.
Do I need to fast before my sedation appointment?
This depends on the level of sedation you choose. For nitrous oxide, you can usually eat a light meal beforehand. However, for oral or IV sedation, we typically require that you do not eat or drink anything for 6–8 hours prior to your visit for your safety. Our team will provide you with specific, easy-to-follow instructions during your consultation so you feel fully prepared.
